Baseball Recap: Carter's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Carter walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Adelanto Saints on Friday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Keith Lockhart made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Angel Acevedo was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Carter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 9-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Raul Rodarte, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Carter, bringing their record up to 16-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Adelanto, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season.

Carter will venture away from home to square off against Arroyo at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. Adelanto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
