Freedom has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Liberty Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Freedom didn't have too much trouble with Deer Valley at home as they won 55-40. The win was just what Freedom needed coming off of a 64-40 loss in their prior match.
Freedom's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ariel De La O led the charge by scoring 13 points along with five steals. De La O has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Anisa Blalock was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Liberty ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Heritage by a score of 66-59. Winning may never get old, but Liberty sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Freedom's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Liberty, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Freedom was dealt a bruising 57-29 defeat at the hands of Liberty when the teams last played on January 9th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Liberty's Shyanne Smith, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. Now that Freedom knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
