High school baseball rankings: Buchanan keeps rolling, stays atop NorCal Top 20

1. Buchanan (Clovis)

Update: The Bears rolled Paso Robles in non-league action as Justin Inchaurregui doubled and tripled and Jayden Mandal drove in two for the top team in the Central Section and The Fresno Bee. An early big win was 3-2 over De La Salle.

2. De La Salle (Concord)
Record: 8-1 | Last week: 2
Update: The Spartans are top ranked in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle and San Jose Mercury News and are coming off wins over Livermore 4-1 and Dougherty Valley of San Ramon 16-4 behind Alec Nava's hot bat and Sam Sitzman's second-game pitching efforts. An earlier big win was over Saint Francis of Mountain View. The loss was 3-2 to Buchanan.

3. California (San Ramon)
Record: 11-1 | Last week: 3
Update: The Grizzlies are in a rugged East Bay Athletic League that includes Monte Vista of Danville, which beat California 5-3, before bouncing back to beat San Ramon Valley 6-4 behind Dom Tuyor, who homered.

4. Clayton Valley Charter (Concord)
Record: 8-1 | Last week: 6
Update: The Ugly Eagles beat Campolindo 1-0 off the bat of Aiden Romero and pitcher Jacob Krieg, who struck out nine.

5. Elk Grove
Record: 9-2 | Last week: 7
Update: Top-ranked by The Sacramento Bee with no Sacramento-area losses, the Thundering Herd swept Sheldon in three games in Delta League action, 10-0, 11-1 and 13-1 to set up a series showdown with rival Franklin.

6. Stockdale (Bakersfield)
Record: 11-0 | Last week: 8
Update: The Mustangs rolled Bakersfield 22-6 and Centennial of Bakersfield 9-2 behind Austin Charles, who had two home runs in the first game. He went 7-for-7 in two games.

7. Woodcreek (Roseville)

Update: The Timberwolves are heating up with the start of Capital Valley Conference play, having swept Yuba City in three games and then beating Folsom 6-2 in non-league action as Ethan Louie and Noah Madsen each drove in two and pitchers Zack Malone and Braeden Sloan combined to strike out 13.

8. Saint Francis (Mountain View)
Record: 10-2 | Last week: 17
Update: The Lancers are 5-0 in the West Catholic Athletic League, beating Serra 1-0, Sacred Heart Cathedral 1-0, Bellarmine Prep 5-2, Riordan 3-0 and Valley Christian 4-0. Blake Rogers got the pitching win over Valley Christian.

9. Valley Christian (San Jose)
Record: 9-3 | Last week: 4
Update: The Warriors are 4-1 in the stacked West Catholic Athletic League, a game behind Saint Francis after suffering a 4-0 loss to their rivals despite Alec Belardes striking out six and Jaden Bitter two.

10. McClatchy (Sacramento)

Update: The Lions are in idle mode because the Sacramento City Unified School District is on a teacher/staff strike, meaning no teams can practice or play. This is a bummer for McClatchy, which fields one of its very best teams since the school opened in 1937.

Update: The Vikings belted Cupertino 20-0 as Rowan Felsch had two home runs and Danny Peters delivered a grand slam.

Update: The Cardinals beat Petaluma 13-2 as Nate Phelps drove in two, Gavin Rognlien plated two and Mason Lerma collected three hits.

Update: The Knights beat Madera South 5-2, Madera 16-3 and Edison of Fresno 2-0 and are 3-0 in the County/Metro League.

Update: The Monarchs Rolled St. Ignatius of San Francisco 14-1 before falling to Bellarmine Prep in WCAL action 5-3. Against SI, Matteo Blandino drove in five and Luka Pintar struck out five.

Update: The Eagles beat Pacific Grove 8-3 in non-league play as Jacob Haros drove in two and Nathan Baeza struck out six and Gavin Rose fanned three.

Update: The Falcons are 4-0 in the East Bay League, just ahead of De La Salle and San Ramon Valley. In a 6-0 win over Granada of Livermore, Tyler Gebb tossed a complete-game, three-hitter with one walk and four strikeouts.

Update: The Longhorns beat rival Willow Glen of San Jose 8-3 and 8-2 to start Mount Hamilton League action unbeaten behind pitchers Dillon Haftorson and Miles Lu .

Update: The upstart Eagles are a prolific bunch, having been shut down only once, by Franklin of Elk Grove, 1-0. Jacob Cullen has already driven in 20 and Drew Anderson 15.

Update: The Pride has only one slight blemish, a 6-6 tie to Tracy and just raced past Modesto 12-0 and 26-0 to move to 3-0 in the Central California Athletic League. Mateo Garcia is 4-0 on the mound.

Update: The Wolves beat Amador Valley of Pleasanton 8-3 and Dougherty Valley of San Ramon 4-3 in 8 innings before falling to California 6-4 in an already tight East Bay race.
