Verdugo Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Legacy get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory.
Not much got past D'Angelo Duran, who gave up just three hits to keep Legacy off the board.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cutlor Gouger-Fannon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Verdugo Hills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 9-16 otherwise.
Meanwhile, San Pedro had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past the Yankees 11-0.
Anthony Solis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, San Pedro got a massive performance out of Tyrus Wilson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave Wilson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braydon Griffin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Verdugo Hills' win bumped their record up to 12-16. As for San Pedro, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.
Verdugo Hills might still be hurting after the 16-2 loss they got from San Pedro in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Dons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
