There's no place like home for the Mars Fightin' Planets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Shaler Area on Thursday and snuck past 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Mars has posted since December 2, 2023.
Mars' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexis Cashdollar led the charge by scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Cashdollar hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Vita Vargo, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Mars now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Shaler Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Mars will head out on the road to take on the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Hills is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. Shaler Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
