After starting the season with a win over defending Class 3A-1 state champion Lorena, China Spring (Texas) has been on a roll while claiming the top spot in the MaxPreps Small Town National Football Rankings.
The Cougars topped Lorena 38-20 behind 255 yards passing by Wimberly transfer
Cash McCollum. A big win on the road against Melissa found McCollum throwing for 265 yards. He added 199 yards in a win over Connally and 351 yards and five touchdowns against Mexia.
China Spring has won 20 straight games and maintains its spot at the top of the Small Town national rankings with a computer rating of 55.0. The small town rankings are composed of schools with an enrollment of under 1,000 students in towns with a population of less than 10,000 people. The rankings are based on the MaxPreps computer ratings.
The Cougars hold a sizable lead over No. 2 Aurora (Neb.), which has impressive wins over Ashland-Greenwood (Ashland, Neb.), which is ranked No. 14, and Boone Central.
