On their second drive of the game, the Crusaders marched 62 yards on eight plays to open the scoring on a 19-yard run by quarterback
AJ Bianco. But Gorman answered immediately with a quick drive right before the end of the first quarter as Barfield plunged in from 1 yard out. The 5-foot-9 back scored for the Gaels the next time he touched the ball on the 57-yard burst up the gut to make it 14-7.
A 3-yard plunge from
Ola Apduhan of St. Louis tied the score at 14 with 8:39 remaining in the half, but the Gaels scored 14 unanswered heading into the intermission. The last Barfield score of the half was set up by a fourth-and-15 sack by
Jamih Otis that set the hosts up in good field position.
Bishop Gorman needed four plays to score after having a nice kick return negated as Barfield's 20-yard TD capped a 69-yard yard drive. The Gaels made it 42-14 early in the fourth quarter when an errant St. Louis snap over the punter was scooped up in the end zone by
Palaie Faoa.
