Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Amalia Fruchtman of
Cape Henlopen (Lewes) is the 2025-26 MaxPreps Delaware High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The 6-foot senior forward led the Vikings to a 19-3 record and the second round of the DIAA state tournament.
For the season, Fruchtman averaged 21.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 51 percent from the
field. She finished her career with 1,395 points and over 500 rebounds.
Fruchtman is scheduled to play in the Delaware Blue-Gold All-Star game. She also starred on the volleyball court for Cape Henlopen with 305 digs and 126 kills last fall.
