Perennial high school football powerhouse and eight-time Texas state champion
Southlake Carroll (Southlake) named Lee Munn as its new head coach Monday.
Munn, the program's defensive coordinator, was promoted in a unanimous vote by the school board. He replaces Riley Dodge, who led the program for the past eight seasons before joining the SMU staff as the tight ends coach and passing game coordinator.
When Dodge was hired by Southlake Carroll in 2018, he brought Munn on as his defensive coordinator. Munn also worked with Riley Dodge's father, Todd, as an assistant at
Marble Falls and
Westlake (Austin).

"I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as head football coach at Carroll," Munn said in a statement. "This program, this community, and these student-athletes mean a great deal to me. I am committed to building on the tradition of excellence that defines our Dragons while continuing to develop young men of character, discipline, and heart."
Munn's hiring had support from current and former players, including Miami Dolphins quarterback
Quinn Ewers who had tweeted his support of Munn on X.
The Dragons went 107-10 under Dodge and reached two state finals with
three semifinal berths. But the program hasn't won a state title since
2011.
Southlake Carroll went 14-1 in 2025 and lost to eventual Conference 6A Division 1 champion
DeSoto in the semifinals.
The Dragons allowed 188 points (12.5 per game) under Munn's leadership, the lowest total in his eight seasons with the program.
