A player and coach who led arguably one of the greatest 6-man football teams in Texas history headline the inaugural MaxPreps 6-man All-America Team.
The father-son duo of National Coach of the Year Mike Reed and National Player of the Year
Stryker Reed led a
Gordon (Texas) team that won the Conference 1A Division 1 state championship in convincing fashion over
Rankin 69-22. The Longhorns also finished No. 1 in the nation according to the MaxPreps 6-man football computer ratings.
Nearly every high school sport has a mercy rule that provides the losing team the opportunity to have a running clock or bring an early end to a lopsided game. In 6-man football, there is a 45-point mercy rule that immediately ends the game once that threshold is reached.

As a result, Gordon played just 35 out of a possible 56 quarters during the 2025 season, or the equivalent of over five full games of missed time on the field. Gordon scored 870 points on the season and outscored its opponents by an average margin of victory of 51 points.
Over the past four seasons, Gordon is 44-0 with 42 mercy rule victories. One of the few games that went the distance was an 11-man game Gordon played this year against
Thorndale, which went 8-4 this year at the 2A level but lost 54-21 to Gordon.
Gordon has also played just 142 of a possible 228 quarters over the past four seasons and became the first team to win a state championship by the mercy rule.
Stryker Reed is a big reason for the program's success. He is one of five Longhorns to play on three state championship teams and has the distinction of averaging more yards per "touch" than any player in Texas 6-man history.
According to statistics provided by coach Mike Reed, Stryker had 3,600 yards in his career for an average of 24 yards per touch. That stat edges out teammate teammate
Ry Reed (no relation) and former
Benjamin standout Grayson Rigdon, who both averaged 23 yards per touch. Additionally, Stryker averaged a touchdown every other time he touched the ball during the 2025 season.
Stryker and Mike Reed are joined on the All-American team by four other Longhorns: Ry Reed, quarterback
Noah Kostiha, receiver/linebacker
Brayden Walters and lineman/kicker
Asher Salinas.
Since lineups in 6-man football are flexible with all linemen capable of receiving a pass, MaxPreps has included a variety of positions on offense and defense to help account for the various formations employed in the states that sanction the sport. Thus there are 12 selections on offense and 11 on defense. Players are selected based on local, regional and state honors as well as statistics and team success.
