Video: Texas Top 10 Games of the Week
Rockwall vs. Longview highlights a packed Lone Star State slate.
Longview owns a 20-game winning streak as well as last year's Class 6A-D2 state championship trophy and a winning tradition in home games at Lobo Stadium.
But Friday night foe Rockwall presents a stern challenge in the District 11-6A opener, and MaxPreps Texas Game of the Week, even for a Longview program riding high at this moment.
Rockwall (3-1) brings the state's top receiver in senior Ohio State pledge Jaxon Smith-Njigba (759 yards) and the top passer in sophomore Braedyn Locke (1,573 yards). The point-a-minute Yellowjackets of coach Rodney Webb are actually scoring above that clip at 53 points per game.
That sets up a strength-against-strength confrontation because Longview's defense, led by linebacker Tyshawn Thompson and safety Malik Cannon, is allowing only seven points per game. Two Lobos opponents failed to score at all. (MaxPreps Texas Top 25 ranking included).
