McKeesport showed why he is regarded as the nation's No. 1 senior running back prospect by some scouting services in a battle between two of Western Pennsylvania's top teams.
Spell ran for 296 yards and four touchdowns but McKeesport fell 40-33 on the road to
Thomas Jefferson (Jefferson Hills) in a rematch of the 2025 WPIAL Class 4A title game.
Three of Spell's touchdowns came in the first half, scoring on runs of 31, 72 and 96 yards.
In the second half, the 5-foot-9, 205-pound ballcarrier returned from a shoe issue and housed a 34-yard score.
Spell has rushed for more than 3,400 yards and 52 scores in the past two seasons, each ending in WPIAL Class 4A title losses.
