Video: Jesus Machado highlights
Crimson Tide get early start on recruiting South Florida linebacker.According to a blog post by
Derek Tyson of ESPN, linebacker
Jesus Machado of
Champagnat Catholic (Hialeah, Fla.) owns an offer from reigning national champion Alabama.
Here's the kicker: he's only in eighth grade.
Obviously, this is the first offer for Machado, right? Not even close.
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds on Champagnat Catholic's 2016 roster, Machado also holds offers from high-profile programs like Iowa State, Michigan State, North Carolina State and West Virginia.
Machado played high school varsity football for the school last fall and started at defensive end and linebacker. The Lions struggled to a 3-7 record but have had success in the recent past, going 14-1 and winning Florida's Class 2A state title back in 2013.
