Sunnyslope (Phoenix) survived an early onslaught Wednesday night to defeat No. 6
Millennium (Goodyear) 61-57 in the first of two regular season matchups this season between the top two teams in Arizona.

Darius Wabbington led the way for Sunnyslope with 20 points and 14 rebounds, including 16 points in the second half. Three-star Colorado signee
Rider Portela added 18 points.
Sunnyslope sealed the victory at the foul line as
Jaylin Ideran, Portella and Wabbington each knocked down a pair of shots from the charity stripe.

Millennium went on a 4-0 run with under five minutes remaining in the fourth
quarter to tie things up at 53 after back-to-back baskets from star
sophomores
Adan Diggs and
Trey McKinney.
Millennium began the game on an 11-0 run with five-star sophomore Diggs scoring seven of those. The Tigers led 19-7 at the end of the first quarter before Sunnyslope responded with a strong second quarter to cut the deficit to 31-27 at the half.
Sunnyslope continued its momentum into the second half, taking a 50-47 lead into the final eight minutes of action.
Diggs finished with a team-high 19 points but was held to just five points in the second half. Top 40 Arizona signee
Cameron Holmes added 17 in the loss.
Last season, Sunnyslope won two of its three meetings with Millennium, including a 58-53 victory in the Open Division state semifinals.
