On Wednesday, April 26 the 12th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard traveled to Northern California to make a special presentation to
Mountain View (Calif.) High School.
The Spartans, the last of 10 girls' soccer teams to be awarded on this year's tour, earned the No. 8 ranking in MaxPreps national computer rankings and won the girls state soccer title in 2016-17 to earn a spot on the tour. The prestigious MaxPreps national ranking trophy was awarded to the Spartans following an incredible 19-1-3 season.

MaxPreps and the California Army National Guard arrived on campus Wednesday morning to celebrate the successful season. Sergeant Mike Watkins, along with other members of the California Army National Guard, was on-site to congratulate the players and spread the excitement regarding the national recognition that would soon become a reality during the celebration in the Science Quad.
With the drum corps hyping up the crowd, the trophy presentation began around lunchtime. Athletic Director, Shelley Smith introduced MaxPreps Representative Danielle Ferrante-Surace. Ferrante-Surace explained the Tour of Champions focusing on the criteria needed to be selected to receive this prestigious award. Ferrante-Surace also spoke of the team's tremendous accomplishments on the field.
The soccer team was already on stage in their commemorative Tour of Champions t-shirts when SGT Watkins presented coach Ivan Bandov and the Eagles with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy and nationally ranked rafter banner. The crowd cheered loudly, as local media outlets were on hand to capture every moment.
Congratulations to the Mountain View High School girls' soccer team! We hope to see the Spartans again next year on the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard!
