Elijah Haven has already cemented his place among Louisiana’s all-time great high school football players with a season left to play.
The
Dunham (Baton Rouge) quarterback earned 2025 MaxPreps Louisiana Player of the Year honors after leading the Tigers to their first state championship in 21 years. The five-star prospect threw for 3,391 yards and a state-record 62 touchdowns while adding 794 rushing yards and 11 scores.
Haven delivered one of his best performances on the biggest stage, accounting for five touchdowns in Dunham’s 34-17 win over
Calvary Baptist Academy (Shreveport) in the Division III Select state championship game. He threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 133 yards and two more scores.

Haven was named the 2024 MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year following a season in which he totaled 4,085 yards of offense and 58 touchdowns.
Already the LHSAA record holder with 180 career touchdowns responsible for, Haven is closing in on more milestones. He needs 2,803 total yards in 2026 to break Ju’Juan Johnson’s state record of 14,451 career total offensive yards. He also has an outside shot at Brock Berlin’s Louisiana career passing record, needing 4,629 yards through the air as a senior.
Haven’s impact extends beyond the field as he became the first high school athlete to sign with EA Sports and is ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the Class of 2027 by 247Sports. In April, he announced his commitment to Alabama.
