Several standout high school girls flag football players were selected for the Team USA 17U National Team as announced by USA Football on Thursday.
Each year, the 15U and 17U boys and girls national teams compete against other countries worldwide in the annual Junior International Cup. The girls program has won three gold medals and a silver medal in the 15U division and four gold medals in the 17U division at the event since its inception in 2022.
Highlighting the girls 17U team is
Makena Cook of
Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.), the MaxPreps California Junior of the Year. Earlier this year, Cook became the first female athlete to receive a Power 4 flag football offer as Nebraska head football coach Matt Rhule paid Cook a visit in January to extend the offer in person.
