Maddyn Greenway of
Providence Academy (Plymouth) became Minnesota high school girls basketball's career scoring leader Friday.
The Kentucky commit broke the mark late in the first half of a 97-60 win over
Maranatha Christian Academy (Brooklyn Park) in the Class AA section 5 final. Greenway finished with 43 points to pass
Tori Oehrlein of
Crosby-Ironton (Crosby) and now sits at 5,505 points.

Greenway's total also places her fifth on the national career scoring list, according to the
MaxPreps National High School Girls Basketball Record Book.
Greenway and Oehrlein had been in a see-saw battle all season for the state scoring mark and it looked as though the two were on a collision course to see who would break the record in the state Class AA final showdown.
But Crosby-Ironton was upset 61-58 by Pequot Lakes on Tuesday in a section semifinal game. Oehrlein, a University of Minnesota commit, finished her prep career with 5, 485 points.
It should be noted that Minnesota plays 18-minute halves instead of eight-minute quarters used in most other states. It also allows players to participate in varsity basketball starting in the seventh grade.
Greenway, the daughter of former NFL linebacker Chad Greenway, is far from just a basketball star. She holds the Minnesota record for career goals in soccer, a mark she set earlier this school year and also is a multi-time track and field state champion.
Providence Academy is seeking its fifth consecutive state championship.
