Video: High school running back appears out of thin air for 30-yard gain

As iconic boxer Muhammad Ali and legendary pitcher Walter Johnson have both said: You can't hit what you can't see.

St. Francis (Wheaton, Ill.) football coach Mike Fitzgerald must subscribe to the same line of thinking.

In a Nov. 1 playoff game against Grayslake North, Fitzgerald decided to take full advantage of his diminutive running back Dom Cosentino by hiding him behind the offensive line to start the play.

Quarterback Clint Bobowski took the handoff and deftly handed the ball to Cosentino, still tucked conveniently behind the linemen. The Spartans then ran misdirection to the right and waited for the defense to bite.

Once they did, Cosentino came seemingly out of nowhere to scamper for a mysterious 30-yard gain.

St. Francis held on to win the game 26-24 and advanced to the next round, thanks in part to the team's perfect execution of a unique play.
