Aurora (Neb.) moved ahead of China Spring (Texas) in the MaxPreps Small Town Top 25 high school football rankings after upping its record to 8-0 on the year while China Spring dropped its first game of the season.
Aurora was ranked No. 2 in the September rankings, behind China Spring. The Huskies won four straight, including a 41-7 win over Adams Central, to raise its computer rating to 53.6. China Spring lost to Parish Episcopal (Dallas) the day after the release of the September rankings when the Cougars were ranked No. 1. The Cougars have won three straight since then by nearly 35 points per game.
Gilmer (Texas), No. 6 last month, moves up to No. 3 with a 6-0 record while Coweta (Okla.) debuts in the Small Town rankings with a 7-0 record. Pierce (Neb.), last month's No. 3 team, fills out the Top 5 with an 8-0 record.
The Small Town rankings are composed of schools with an enrollment of less than 1,000 students in towns with a population of less than 10,000 people. The rankings are based on the MaxPreps computer ratings. Teams are listed with their season record and computer rating.
