The 75th NBA All-Star Game will take place Sunday in Los Angeles with the league's brightest stars on display.
Arguably the most highly-touted high school prospect of all-time, LeBron James is set to extend a record with his 22nd All-Star appearance. James played at
St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio) and was a three-time Ohio Mr. Basketball before becoming a four-time NBA champion and the league's all-time leading scorer.
A new generation of stars is also making their impact on the game with nearly half of the selections making their first or second All-Star appearances.
Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) has three alums in this year's game with
Scottie Barnes,
Cade Cunningham and
Jalen Duren representing the Eastern Conference. Barnes and Cunningham were teammates on the Eagles' 25-0 team in 2019–20. Duren was considered the top prospect in the Class of 2022 before reclassifying before his senior year.
Cooper Flagg and
Derik Queen also will represent Montverde Academy in the Rising Stars Game on Friday.
Four other states claim multiple All-Stars in 2026. California has
Kawhi Leonard of
King (Riverside) and
Norman Powell of
Lincoln (San Diego). Georgia claims
Anthony Edwards of
Holy Spirit Prep (Atlanta) and
Jaylen Brown of
Wheeler (Marietta).
Stephen Curry of
Charlotte Christian (Charlotte) and
Brandon Ingram of
Kinston represent North Carolina while Texas boasts
Tyrese Maxey of
South Garland (Garland), Pascal Siakam of
God's Academy (Lake Dallas) and a late roster add in
De'Aaron Fox of
Cypress Lakes (Katy).
New York has produced the most NBA All-Star MVPs, including Julius Erving, Tiny Archibald, Randy Smith, Bob Lanier, Lenny Wilkens and Bob Cousy. California and Illinois each lay claim to five All-Star MVPs. Leonard,
Damian Lillard,
Russell Westbrook, Bill Russell and Bill Sharman all come from the Golden State while
Anthony Davis, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Garnett, Isiah Thomas and George Mikan represent the Prairie State.
