Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding
performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close
out the 2025-26 season by naming the top player in each state.
Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in
addition to local and state accolades.
Anthony Brown of
Archbishop Carroll is the 2025-26 MaxPreps District of Columbia MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1 senior guard led the Lions to a 23-13 record and the Class AA semifinals.
For the season, Brown averaged 28.3 points, 5.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 51.2 percent from the field, 41.0 percent from 3-point range and 83.8 percent from the free throw line.

Brown established a new career-high in December with 51 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists in an 85-62 victory over Roman Catholic (Philadelphia, Pa.).
After spending his first two seasons at Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.), Brown transferred to Archbishop Carroll for his final two seasons. He finished his high school career with over 2,000 points after putting up over 1,000 this season alone.
Regarded as the No. 84 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 by Rivals, Brown signed with Vanderbilt over offers from Georgia Tech, Maryland, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Providence, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas Tech, UCF and Villanova among others.
Each
state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in
the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released in
