In California, it was small school power
Ferndale with 769 points over 14 games. The Wildcats didn't
allow a single point until Halloween, a span of eight games.
In Georgia,
Creekside (Fairburn) tallied the most points by a state champion with 845. The Seminoles put up 91 in an October game and 70 on Texas state champion
DeSoto.
After back-to-back losses to begin the season,
Shelby went on a tear with wins in 12 of its next 13 games en route to a 13th North Carolina state championship. The Golden Lions put up totals of 90, 74 and 84 in the title game, adding up to a state-best 801 points.
In Kansas,
Andale got out of the blocks quickly with 104 points in its opener – the highest single-game total in the country this season. The Indians put up 50 points or more in 10 games, eventually piling up 782 points on the season en route to a state title.
