No. 10 North Shore (Houston) had a huge district road test against a
red-hot
Atascocita (Humble) squad and pulled out a 16-13 win. The
Mustangs trailed 13-3 after the Eagles scored on their opening
possession of the third quarter but got two touchdowns from three-star
wide receiver
David Amador. He has been playing quarterback since
Kaleb Bailey went down with an injury against King (Houston).
He scored on a 36-yard keeper to cut the deficit to 13-9 on a crucial 4th and 2 in the third quarter and connected with
Terrence Guillory for a 63-yard touchdown to take a 16-13 lead with just over six minutes remaining. It was the 22nd consecutive win for the Mustangs and fifth in a row against Atascocita.
The MaxPreps Game of the Week went down in Texas and No. 15 Duncanville cruised to a one-sided 41-17 win over DeSoto. The Panthers improved to 8-0 and have won every game by double digits. Junior running back
Caden Durham had a monster night with 19 carries for 309 yards and five touchdowns. Five-star junior edge rusher
Colin Simmons had a big-time game creating havoc all night in DeSoto's backfield.
Basha (Chandler, Ariz.) pulled off the biggest upset of the night beating No. 9 Chandler (Ariz.) 14-7 on ESPNU. After the Wolves scored on their opening drive the Bears did not allow another point. Senior running back
Deshaun Buchanan accounted for both touchdowns and junior defensive back
DJ Jaiman intercepted
Dylan Raiola's pass on 4th and 2 to ice the game. Junior quarterback
Demond Williams Jr. made big plays all night for the Bears and they have knocked off Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) and Chandler in back-to-back weeks.
No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), No. 4 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), No. 14 Centennial (Corona, Calif.) and No. 22 Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) all won and will most likely all be in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoff bracket. That bracket start date is still TBA depending on the amount of teams included. It will get announced on Sunday.
