Bumila hit the first batter he faced and that resulted in an unearned run after a passed ball – the first time an opposing team has crossed the plate with him on the mound all season. However, the 6-foot-9 lefty pitched a perfect game the rest of the way.
Bishop Feehan would go on to beat Moses Brown (Providence, R.I.) while Bumila broke the school record for strikeouts in a game with 20, surpassing the 19-strikeout performance of Mike Walsh – who was in attendance Friday – in 1966.

In 27 innings of work this season, Bumila has struck out 69 batters while allowing just one hit and one unearned run.
At the plate, he is batting .286 (10-for-35) with 10 RBI, seven runs, two doubles and two home runs.
The Texas baseball signee has regularly topped 100 miles per hour on the radar gun this spring as he continues to draw flocks of MLB scouts to his starts.
Bumila also turned in a dominant basketball season as he earned MaxPreps Massachusetts Player of the Year honors after leading the Shamrocks to the Division 1 state championship.
The dominant post presence averaged 30.6 points and 15.2 rebounds per game for the season and upped his averages to 40.8 points and 20.8 rebounds per contest in state tournament play.
He piled up 52 points and 20 rebounds in a state semifinal win and also pumped in 44 points and 29 rebounds in the state tournament victory.
The two-sport star is among the front-runners for MaxPreps National Athlete of the Year honors to be announced next month.
