Ridgeview has gone 8-2 against Independence recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wolf Pack will welcome the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Ridgeview's favor as the squad sits on 12 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Independence has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
The home team had won the previous two meetings between Ridgeview and Bakersfield Christian, and Bakersfield Christian kept the tradition alive. The Wolf Pack fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-4 on Friday.
Ridgeview saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Edwin Hidalgo, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Another was Ayden Vasquez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Independence got themselves on the board against South on Saturday, but South never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Spartans. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.
Brock Morris looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Alex Reynoso and Jimmy Estrada did most of the damage at the plate: Reynoso got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Estrada got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Reynoso is becoming a predictor of Independence's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Ramirez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Independence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Ridgeview's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Independence, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.
Ridgeview came out on top in a nail-biter against Independence in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Wolf Pack repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
