The Lassen Grizzlies were the 54-26 winner over the Weed Cougars when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Lassen took a serious blow against Weed on Friday, falling 44-11. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lassen has scored all season.
It was another big night for Renaissance Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds for Weed. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Weed's points. Another player making a difference was Alayja Oliver, who scored eight points along with five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Lassen and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Weed, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Lassen will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Anderson at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024. Weed will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Del Norte at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. Del Norte will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
