Softball Recap: Gering Extends Winning Streak to Six

Gering had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Alliance. Considering Gering has won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Libby Baum looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avah Escamilla was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaleigh Bohac, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Gering was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in six consecutive games.

Gering's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Alliance, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Gering wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 17-0 victory against Chase County on the 16th. As for Alliance, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Chadron on the 16th.
