The Granite Hills Eagles's 26-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 39-23 to University City. While losing is never fun, Granite Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 861st, while University City is ranked 268th).
Despite the loss, Granite Hills still got an impressive performance from Delaney Fry, who scored 9 points.
Chaya Scott was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 8 points along with 7 blocks and 4 steals. Scott is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kaela Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Granite Hills' defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-3. As for University City, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granite Hills will take on Mater Dei Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mater Dei Catholic is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for University City, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bishop's at 4:30 p.m. Hopefully Bishop's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
