Peyton Saenz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Millie Halliday also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Riverdale Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Brighton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over Prairie View on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Laikyn Lanzen was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lanzen was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Brighton got a massive performance out of Valeria Rojo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Rojo has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Sumi Mizunaga, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Riverdale Ridge's record is now 16-6. As for Brighton, their record now sits at 14-7.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverdale Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .551. However, it's not like Brighton struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Riverdale Ridge's way against Brighton in their previous meeting on Monday, as Riverdale Ridge made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
