The Argo Argonauts will challenge the Agricultural Science Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Argo's hitters haven't had much luck over their past ten matchups, but Wednesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
Argo's last matchup with Oak Forest could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. The Argonauts lost 24-1 to the Bengals.
Argo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Mackessy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Agricultural Science brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against Prosser on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-10 victory. The Cyclones might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Aiden Kessenich made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off five hits. He has become a key player for Agricultural Science: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10 otherwise. Kessenich was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Agricultural Science got a massive performance out of Rory Clarke, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave Clarke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Arthur Gardunio, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Agricultural Science always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prosser only posted an OBP of .471.
Agricultural Science moved to 12-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Argo, their loss dropped their record down to 6-25.
Everything went Argo's way against Agricultural Science when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Argo made off with a 23-1 victory. Will the Argonauts repeat their success, or do the Cyclones have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
