Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mallard Creek). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the West Mecklenburg Hawks 75-44. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Lajalin Overton had a dynamite game for Mallard Creek, dropping a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Overton also posted a 90% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Washington, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
Mallard Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
West Mecklenburg lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Savion Morris, who scored ten points. Mallard Creek now has a winning record of 12-11. As for West Mecklenburg, they dropped their record down to 0-22 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Mallard Creek will challenge Chambers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chambers knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 matches -- so hopefully Mallard Creek likes a good challenge.
