Baseball Recap: Monache Wins Going Away Against Minarets

Monache came out on top against Minarets on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run fourth inning. The Marauders blew past the Mustangs 18-3. That looming 18-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Marauders yet this season.

Brody McCoy was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyson Chavez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Brandon Correa was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base.

Monache always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Minarets only posted an OBP of .368.

The win made it two in a row for Monache and bumps their season record up to 18-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Minarets, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.

Monache will venture away from home to challenge Porterville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Minarets, they will host Fresno Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.68 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
