Pensacola Catholic extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 3-7. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Rocky Bayou Christian Knights. If the Crusaders were looking for revenge after losing 12-9 to the Knights when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Brynile McLaughlin and Aubree: 9Th-#27 Baldwin stepped up to the plate in a big way. McLaughlin went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Baldwin went 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI. Krystiana Chatman was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
As for Rocky Bayou Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games.
On Rocky Bayou Christian's side, Audra Morgan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. Morgan has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Krystal Mercer was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Bailey Nance, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pensacola Catholic will welcome Pensacola at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.43 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rocky Bayou Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Ponce De Leon at 4:00 p.m. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
