The Sun Valley Vanguards waltzed into their matchup Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Pottsgrove with a sharp 53-30 win. Sun Valley might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three matches by 23 points or more this season.
Pottsgrove's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jessica Carroll, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Carroll scored a full 36.7% of Pottsgrove's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Leaman, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Sun Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. As for Pottsgrove, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
Sun Valley will head out on the road to face off against Morrisville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Morrisville is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Pottsgrove, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Phoenixville at 6:45 p.m. Phoenixville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pottsgrove in Pennsylvania (Phoenixville is ranked 209th, while Pottsgrove is ranked 537th).
