Baseball Game Preview: Hercules Titans vs. Vallejo Redhawks

For the second straight game, Hercules will face off against Vallejo. The Titans will head out to challenge the Redhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hercules' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

If Hercules beats Vallejo with 11 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Titans walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Redhawks on Wednesday.

Noah Ledesma was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hercules let Cameron Solis and Wynston Bishop run wild. Solis went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles, while Bishop went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Bishop has become a key player for Hercules: the team is 5-1-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was William Hobbs, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Hercules always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Hercules pushed their record up to 11-8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Vallejo, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-7 record.
