The North Saxons will take on the Grace Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
North is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against Baldwin Park by a score of 5-2.
North got a great performance from Mason Matsumoto as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tanner Okawa, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sei Nagashima, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Grace entered their tilt with Beverly Hills on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Normans a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kade Monica made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Grace is 10-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Monica was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Daniel Morlett was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Shane Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Grace's win bumped their record up to 17-11. As for North, their victory bumped their record up to 12-16.
