Hamilton/Warsaw hasn't had much luck against Camp Point Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Hamilton/Warsaw saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Carter, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Camp Point Central had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Monday. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with an 11-3 victory. Considering the Panthers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Liam Skinner and Jensen DeMoss dominated on the mound. Skinner pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while DeMoss struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave DeMoss a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Camp Point Central let Luke Ippensen and Braxton Kestner run wild. Ippensen went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Kestner went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Ippensen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Petersen, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one triple.
Camp Point Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bushnell-Prairie City only managed eight.
Hamilton/Warsaw's defeat dropped their record down to 7-21. As for Camp Point Central, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hamilton/Warsaw has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Camp Point Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
