Hercules is 2-8 against Salesian College Preparatory since March of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hercules Titans will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Salesian College Preparatory Pride at 3:30 p.m. Salesian College Preparatory took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hercules, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with four losses in a row dating back to last season, Hercules turned things around against St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Bruins as they made off with a 13-3 win. The Titans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Wynston Bishop and Noah Ledesma made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bishop pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ledesma struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. At the plate, Bishop scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Ledesma scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs Bishop has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Hercules let Cameron Solis and Nathaniel Melgoza run wild. Solis scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Melgoza scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Solis has posted since back in April of 2024. William Hobbs was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Hercules was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Salesian College Preparatory unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Piedmont on Wednesday, falling 9-1. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.
Hercules' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Salesian College Preparatory, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything went Hercules' way against Salesian College Preparatory in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Hercules made off with a 10-0 win.
