There's no place like home for the Westchester Comets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They breezed by University at home to the tune of 69-35. Given Westchester's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while University is ranked 728th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mariah Blake continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Blake is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Myles, who scored nine points.
Westchester pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for University, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westchester will take on Venice at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Venice has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for University, they will be playing at home against Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hamilton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully University likes a good challenge.
