Desert has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Bishop Union Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Desert focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Desert ultimately got the result they hoped for. They walked away with a 69-62 win over Kern Valley. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for two points.
Destiny Hart continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 27 points, 23 rebounds, and 13 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Desert's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalista Williams, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 57 points the game before, Bishop Union were a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 40-22 to Rosamond. Bishop Union found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sienna Fuller, who scored six points along with six rebounds and four steals. Henny Charley was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Desert has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Bishop Union, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.
Desert suffered a grim 66-45 defeat to the Broncos when the teams last played back in January. Can Desert avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
