The McConnellsburg Spartans had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Southern Fulton by a score of 42-35 on Thursday. The win was just what McConnellsburg needed coming off of a 52-22 loss in their prior matchup.
Despite the loss, Southern Fulton still got an impressive performance from Andrea Elder, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Elder has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sandra Stotler, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
McConnellsburg's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Southern Fulton, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.
McConnellsburg will look to defend their home court on Monday against Shade at 7:15 p.m. Shade is coming into the game with nine straight defeats on the road, meaning McConnellsburg will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Southern Fulton, they will square off against Meyersdale at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Southern Fulton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
