Basketball Recap: Northgate Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Northgate had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They secured a 49-43 W over the Miramonte Matadors. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Broncos also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northgate to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jada Mayse, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. What's more, Mayse also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Hana Neuman, who posted 14 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Miramonte lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Julia Quinn-Ferguson, who scored nine points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Robin Parmelee was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Northgate has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Miramonte, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Northgate will square off against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Alhambra: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Northgate has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road. As for Miramonte, they will take on College Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miramonte is facing College Park at the right time seeing as College Park is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
