Texas high school football: Statewide top 25 scoreboard

Guyer at North Crowley, Atascocita at Westlake among weekend highlights.

Coming off an upset win over DeSoto, North Crowley (Fort Worth) will look to notch another big win Friday against Denton Guyer in a battle of 2-0 teams. That is one of four games involving statewide top 25 teams going head-to-head on the Texas high school football schedule this weekend.

Against DeSoto, North Crowley produced a pair of 100-yard rushers (Cornelius Warren III and Daniel Bray) and had a receiver go for 180 yards and four scores in Quentin Gibson.

Guyer may look to keep the Panther offense off the field by going to work with senior running back Sterling Schneider, who pounded out 207 yards on 22 carries last week in a 38-19 win over Arlington Martin (Arlington).

Other top 25 teams going head-to-head include No. 9 Atascocita (Humble) at No. 8 Westlake (Austin), No. 18 Byron Nelson (Trophy Club) at Southlake Carroll and No. 13 South Oak Cliff (Dallas) at No. 25 Longview.

No. 1 Duncanville will also get a big test from outside the state in St. Frances Academy (Baltimore), which is ranked No. 22 nationally by MaxPreps. The Panthers opened their season last week with a 34-12 win over South Oak Cliff last week.
