Junior All-American Team
MaxPreps 2016 National Junior Volleyball Player of the Year: S - Erin O'Leary, Novi (Mich.), 5-11A repeat MaxPreps All-American, O'Leary was first team Class A All-State and led Novi to back-to-back state A Division titles. In 2016, she dished out 9.2 assists per set as Novi won 52-of-53 matches and finished No. 2 nationally. O'Leary, committed to Michigan, is a 2016 member of the U.S. Girls Youth National Team.
MB - Asjia O'Neal, Carroll (Southlake, Texas), 6-2An All-State pick, O'Neal was named the MVP of District 5-6A – a district that included state champion Hebron (she had 33 kills and 12 blocks in two wins over Hebron). She finished the season with 509 kills and 121 blocks, leading Southlake Carroll to a 43-7 record and spot in the 6A Region I final. The daughter of former NBA standout Jermaine O'Neal is committed to Texas.
MH - Alana Hruska, RHAM (Hebron, Conn.), 6-2Hruska hit 62.4 percent and averaged 5.4 kills in leading the Sachems to the state L title. She was tournament MVP with a kill percentage over 70 percent. She averaged better than a block per set during the regular season and served for 244 points in 101 sets.
OH - Keeley Davis, Rock Canyon (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), 6-2Colorado's top 5A player and Denver Post Player of the Year, Davis led Rock Canyon to the state semifinals and a 25-3 season. She averaged 4.2 kills, 3.0 digs and 3.2 serve receptions per set. She also blocked 73 shots and served 92.7 percent. She is committed to Creighton.
OH - Morgan Chacon, Crown Point (Ind.), 5-11Named the NWI Times Player of the Year, Chacon had 499 kills this season and led Crown Point to the 4A finals match. She also tallied 322 digs this year, had 49 aces and 50 blocks as the Bulldogs finished 36-4. She has committed to Arizona State.
OH - Charley Niego, Mother McAuley (Chicago), 6-1Named the Chicago Times Daily Southtown Player of the Year, Niego led the Mighty Macs to a 40-1 season, a 4A state title and MaxPreps mythical national title. She recorded 498 kills, 473 digs, 69 blocks and 25 aces. In games against Kentucky powers Assumption, Mercy and Notre Dame Academy, she excelled with 81 kills (10.1 average) and 60 digs in eight sets. All were Mother McAuley victories. She has committed to Notre Dame.
OH - Allison Martinez, Westridge (Pasadena, Calif.), 5-10Committed to Long Beach State, Martinez created one third of all of Westridge's points. Martinez averaged more than 7.0 kills per set eight times this season and finished with 520 overall. She had 37 kills against Los Altos, 32 against Monrovia, 34 against Ramona and 21 in the CIF State Southern California semifinals against Claremont. She also served 35 aces, had 38 blocks and 173 digs.
OH - Kamrin Caoili, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.), 6-0Caoili averaged three kills per set and recorded a 94.3 serving percentage, scoring 200 points as the Monarchs went 38-4 and won California's first Open Division title. She also blocked 56 shots.
OH - Taylor Rowland, Cox Mill (Concord, N.C.), 6-3 Jr.Rowland led Cox Mill to the 3A title and was named the state's top player in the process. She had a kill ratio of 60.5 (5.1 per set), served 43 aces, averaged two digs and serve receptions per set. Rowland, who committed to Auburn, helped the Chargers finish ninth in the nation.
OH - Haley Warner, Fayetteville (Ark.), 6-2Named Most Valuable Player of the Class 7A state tournament as Fayetteville won its second straight 7A title, Warner totaled 421 kills in 98 sets to go with 68 blocks, 274 digs and 20 aces. She is a three-time All-State selection and was named Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year as a freshman. Committed to Florida, she was a member of the U.S. Youth National team.
OH - Yvette Burcescu, Panas (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.), 6-2A third-year varsity performer, Burcescu owns the program's single-season kill (762, 6.0 per set average, 51.9 kill percentage) and career kill (1,496) marks. She was named first team All-State as well as the Lohud Journal News Player of the Year. Burcescu led Panas (45-7) to Class A section and regional titles, and to its first state finals appearance. The Panthers won three regular-season tournaments, with Burcescu taking home MVP honors each time.
OH - Adanna Rollins, Hebron (Carrollton, Texas), 6-2 Committed to Minnesota, Rollins was the MVP of the Class 6A state championship match as Hebron repeated as state champions. Rollins was named All-State after finishing the season with a team-leading 540 kills and 284 digs for her 46-6 team.
OH - Garrett Joiner, Brentwood (Tenn.), 6-2Joiner led Brentwood to its fourth-straight state title and a 50-4 season. She served 72 aces and scored 358 points, killed 560 (4.0 per set average) shots and had 247 digs. She has committed to Virginia.
OH - Thayer Hall, Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.), 6-3Hall, named MaxPreps Sophomore of the Year in 2015, led Dorman to the 5A title and a 46-2 record when she killed 608 shots (5.0 average) at a 50-percent rate. She also served 50 aces for 283 points and had a 91.5 serve percent. Add 420 digs and 442 serve receptions and you get the state Player of the Year for a second-straight season. She is a member of the 2016 Women's Junior National Team and has committed to Florida.
OH - Alli Papesh, Minooka (Ill.), 6-1Papesh had a 50.4 kill percentage, averaged 4.5 kills per set to go along with a block per set and served for 234 points with a 92.5 average. She also averaged 3.0 digs per set and led the youthful Indians to a 4A finals appearance against Mother McAuley (Chicago, Ill.). Named the Morris Herald-News Player of the Year, Papesh had two 20-kill performances, 19 double-digit kill performances, 85 blocks and 45 aces.
S - Carly Graham, Oak Ridge (Conroe, Texas), 6-0Named the All-Greater Houston Volleyball Player of the Year, Graham recorded 1,416 assists (10 per set average), 483 digs and 307 kills, helping the War Eagles win 48 consecutive wins. She has committed to Rice.
S - Ella May Powell, Fayetteville (Ark.), 6-0 Powell led Fayetteville to another state title in 2016 when she recorded 298 digs (3.0 per set), 124 kills and 917 assists (9.4 per set). She also served for 286 points and 75 aces (92.7 percentage). Powell, a 2016 member of the U.S. Girls Youth National team, should surpass 3,000 assists early next year. She has committed to Washington.
S - Shannon Williams, Brecksville-Broadview Heights (Broadview Heights, Ohio), 5-8 Williams led the Bees to the large-school title, averaging 14.1 assists per set. She also averaged two kills and three digs per set. Williams served for 245 points on 95.7 serving percentage and blocked 37 shots. Her lowest assist-per-set average in a match during the season was 11 and she averaged 15 in the state tournament, including 17.3 in the final two matches. Williams has committed to North Carolina State.
S - Devon Chang, Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), 5-11Chang not only averaged 11.2 assists (1,129 in 101 sets), but also served at a 96.7 rate and blocked better than one shot per set. She led the Eagles to a 38-5 record and the finals of the first ever California Open Division state tournament. In 15 matches this season, she averaged better than a dozen assists per set. Committed to Cal, Chang was a finalist for MaxPreps National Junior Player of the Year.

S - Hailey Delacher, Rockford (Mich.), 5-5Delacher lead Rockford (48-9-1) to a state Class A runner-up finish, as she set a state record 1,635 assists (a per set average of 10.6). Delacher also served for 333 points on 90 percent serving with 51 aces. She has 3,802 career assists.
S - Gabby Blossom, St. Joseph's Academy (St. Louis, Mo.), 5-10 A Penn State recruit, Blossom averaged 12.3 assists to lead St. Joseph's to a 26-3 record and the class 4 quarterfinals. A first team All-State selection, Blossoms was also named first team All-St. Louis Metro.
L - Taylor Baranski, Minooka (Ill.) 5-6Baranski averaged 6.2 digs per set as Indians reached the state 4A finals. She was first team All-State.
L - CC McGraw, Prior Lake (Minn.), 5-9Committed to Minnesota, McGraw led Prior Lake to a 22-7 season where she recorded 502 digs (6.1 per set average). She was named first-team All-State and was the lone junior on the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's 2016 All-Metro team.
A-A - Nicklin Hames, Webb (Knoxville, Tenn.), 5-11 Hames had 455 kills, 933 assists, 471 digs and 111 service aces this season as the Spartans finished 43-8 and won their fourth straight 2A state title. Hames has committed to Nebraska.
A-A – Andrea O'Connor, Stamford (Conn.), 6-1O'Connor was named MVP in both the league and state finals, both wins, as the Black Knights finished 23-3. She finished with 594 kills, 148 blocks, 198 service points and 21 aces.
Sophomore All-American Team
MaxPreps 2016 National Sophomore Volleyball Player of the Year: MH - Ellie Holzman, Mt. Carmel (New Orleans), 6-2Holzman was the only sophomore named to this year's At-Large team. She got better as the season progressed and had 26 kills, 26 digs and 12 blocks in the Cubs' state-title winning game. Holzman averaged 4.8 kills, 2.3 blocks, 3.9 digs and 2.5 serve receptions as Mt. Carmel went 41-11. She was named the Times-Picayune's Large School Player of the Year.
MB - Fallon Stutheit, Johnson-Brock (Johnson, Neb.), 6-2 Stutheit
led the Eagles to 31-4 record and the state D title as she averaged 5.6
(51.4 hitting percent) kills per set. She also served 92 percent with
47 aces (223 points), blocked 62 shots and recorded 212 digs. She was
named to the Super All-State first team.
MH - Gabby Gonzales, Walton (Marietta, Ga.), 6-4Gonzales played key role in leading Walton to its 11th state title. A first team All-State pick, she recorded 380 kills and had 213 digs.
MH - Riley Zuhn, Fossil Ridge (Fort Collins, Colo.), 6-5Committed to Nebraska, Zuhn averaged 3.9 kills and served 49 aces as the Sabercats won the state large school title. She was named first team All-State.
OH - Kenzie Knuckles, Yorktown (Ind.), 5-9 Knuckles had 30 kills in the 3A title championship game as Yorktown finished the season 37-1 and No. 7 in the nation. The Tigers won their final 27 matches as Knuckles, who has committed to Nebraska, finished with 467 kills (4.3 per set average) and 397 digs (3.6) and 60 aces. She was a finalist for MaxPreps National Sophomore Player of the Year.
OH - May Pertofsky, Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), 6-2 Named the CIF Southern Section D4 Player of the Year, Pertofsky led the Trailblazers to a 32-4 season. She averaged 4.4 kills per set with a kill percentage of 51.1.

OH - Riley James, Barnstable (Hyannis, Mass.), 5-10James averaged 6.6 kills per set in leading the Red Raiders to the state large school title and a season-ending winning streak of 18. She also served 93.4 percent with 42 aces and averaged 2.7 digs and 3.7 serve receptions. She was a MaxPreps Freshman All-American in 2015.
OH - Madeline Chinn, Notre Dame Prep (Pontiac, Mich.), 6-3Chinn improved in every area over her outstanding freshman season when she led the Fighting Irish to a 52-win season. She averaged 4.5 kills (51.3 kill percent), 2.8 digs and 2.1 serve receptions this season. Chinn also served for 90 aces and 303 points and blocked 146 shots in 152 sets. She was a first team All-State honoree.
OH - Devon Newberry, Marymount (Los Angeles), 5-9One of the Sailors' two All-American sophomores, Newberry averaged 3.0 digs, 5.1 serve receptions and 3.3 kills in a 31-5 season. She has committed to UCLA.
OH - Megan Taylor, Paintsville (Ky.), 6-0A two-time All-State selection, Taylor averaged 6.4 kills (57.8 kill percentage) to lead the Tigers to a 28-5 season. She also served 76 aces, blocked 63 shots and had 268 digs (2.7 average).
OH - Audrey Nalls, Waxahachie (Texas), 6-0Nalls was selected as the District 10-5A MVP after posting 683 kills (4.6 per set average), 405 digs and 151 blocks in 2016.
OH - Temitayo Thomas-Ailara, Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights, Ill.), 6-1Thomas-Ailara led the Spartans to the state 3A title. She had 362 kills (4.4) on the season and 18 kills and nine digs in state-title game.
OH - Riley Wagoner, Dublin Coffman (Dublin, Ohio), 6-0With Wagoner in the front row, the Shamrocks made it to the state semifinal match. She averaged 5.5 kills and 3.5 digs as the youthful Shamrocks finished 24-4. She was the only sophomore named first team All-State.
OH - Jenaisya Moore, Northwest (Germantown, Md.), 5-11Moore had had 345 kills (5.4 per set average), 204 digs and 36 aces this season as the Lady Jags won 20-of-21 matches and the 4A title. In the championship game against Sherwood, Moore had 24 kills, seven digs and seven blocks in the three-set win.
OH - Ali Travis, Holy Family (Broomfield, Colo.), 5-9Travis led Holy Family to a 24-5 record and was named the Boulder Camera's Player of the Year. She recorded 332 kills, 69 aces and 301 digs. She was also named first-team All-State.
OH - Addie Barnes, Neenah (Wis.), 6-0The first team All-State selection averaged 5.4 serve receptions and nearly four digs and four kills per set as the Rockets (46-4) won the state large school championship. She also served for 304 points and 75 aces and blocked 59 shots.
S - Selina Xu, Menlo School (Atherton, Calif.), 5-11 Xu led Menlo to the state D4
championship when she averaged two kills, two digs and 5.5 assists per
set. She also served for 188 points. In the state title match, she had
12 kills, 12 digs and 19 assists.S - Braelyn Wykle, South Greene (Greeneville, Tenn.), 5-10Wykle, who is averaging 20 points per game for the Rebels' basketball team, averaged 11.1 assists as South Greene won the silver trophy at state. She also served for 414 points and 69 aces on 96.6 serving percentage.
S - Nancy Kane, Mother McAuley (Chicago, Ill.), 5-11Kane averaged 11.7 assists and 3.2 digs per set as McAuley went 40-1 to win the state large school championship and MaxPreps mythical national championship title. She also served for 40 aces and 295 points.
S - McKenna Sciacca, Lewis-Palmer (Monument, Colo.), 5-11Sciacca saw little playing time as a freshman, but blossomed this season into an All-State setter as the Mustangs went 29-0 and won the state 4A title. She averaged 10.8 assists per set and totaled 41 in the three-set, state-title victory.
S - Lexis Akeo, Kamehameha (Honolulu), 5-7Akeo handed out an average of 11.3 assists per set as the Warriors finished second in the state large school title bracket. She also averaged 3.0 digs for Kamehameha (27-7).
L - Hanna Reiff, Chester (S.D.), 5-8Reiff served 96.6 percent and averaged 7.8 digs and 5.2 serve receptions in 100 sets as the Flyers reached the state class B finals.
L - Anna MacDonald, Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.), 5-5MacDonald led Blessed Trinity to a 55-9 season and third-straight state 4A title. She averaged 4.3 digs per set and accounted for 353 service points on 93.5 serving percentage with 104 aces. She has committed to Wisconsin.
A-A - Grace Frohling, Marymount (Los Angeles, Calif.) 6-5Frohling, who transferred from an Oklahoma state championship team this season, made immediate impact with the Sailors: 620 assists (5.7 per set average), 256 kills (2.3 average) and served for 203 points.
A-A - Savannah Vach, Oviedo (Fla.), 5-10Committed to Miami, Vach totaled 367 kills (4.0 average), 439 assists (4.6 average), 31 aces, 261 digs (2.8 average) and 52 blocks as the Lions went 26-4 and reached the state 9A finals.
Freshman All-American Team
MaxPreps 2016 National Freshman Volleyball Player of the Year: Melani Shaffmaster, New Castle (Ind.), 6-3 Shaffmaster led New Castle to a 27-9 season and the championship match of the S9-Greenfield Central Section when she averaged 8.9 assists, 3.1 kills and 2.5 digs per set. She also served for 120 aces and blocked 90 shots in 100 sets. In the postseason, she averaged five kills, two blocks and six assists per set. Named second team large school All-State, Shaffmaster has committed to Minnesota.
MH/OH - Mychael Vernon, Ossining (N.Y.), 5-11One of three finalist for MaxPreps National Freshman Player of the Year, Vernon averaged seven kills per set and 55.7 kill percentage as Ossining went 26-2-1. She also averaged an ace per set and was named first team All-State. In a three-set match against Brewster, she had 42 kills.
OH/MH - Emily Londot, Utica (Ohio), 6-2Londot averaged 5.4 kills per set and a 58.8 kill percentage, and blocked 80 shots in 86 sets as Utica (26-2) reached the state quarterfinals. She was named All-Ohio second team.
MH - Molly Hunt, Delta (Muncie, Ind.), 6-1Named first team All-State, Hunt averaged four kills and served 91 aces as Delta (29-4) reached the state 3A finals.
MB - Marriah Buss, Beatrice (Neb.), 6-1Buss averaged 5.0 kills per set, served 49 aces, blocked 75 shots and averaged 3.1 digs and 4.6 serve receptions per set for Beatrice (16-16). Named first team All-State, Buss set a class B record with 38 kills in a match.
MH - Kadye Fernholz, Miller (S.D.), 6-0Fernholz averaged 5.1 kills to lead a youthful Rustlers team to a 22-win season. She also blocked 88 shots in 90 sets and served 93.3 percent. She was named class A All-State.
OH - Elena Oglivie, 'Iolani (Honolulu), 5-9 One of three finalist for MaxPreps National Freshman Player of the Year, Ogilvie was named Hawaii Player of the Year after leading ‘Iolani to 27 wins and the state large school championships. She averaged 4.1 kills and 4.5 digs per set and served 96.9 percent.
OH - Alexa Edwards, St. Francis (Sacramento, Calif.), 5-10Playing one of the toughest schedules in the state, Edwards led the Troubadours to 27 wins and a half-dozen playoff games. She averaged 4.1 kills, 4.4 serve receptions and 3.3 digs per set.

OH - Paige Flickinger, Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, Texas), 5-11Named the District 5-6A Newcomer of the Year, Flickinger had 416 kills, 51 aces (served 93.2 percent for 250 points), 658 serve receptions and 509 digs as the Bobcats won 30 matches. She had 16 games with 10 or more kills and 22 games with 10 or more digs.
OH - Jaylen Jordan, Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.), 5-9The daughter of pro beach volleyball player Jenny Johnson Jordan and former NFL player Kevin Jordan, and the granddaughter of former Olympian Rafer Johnson. Jordan was an All-Gold Coast League selection after she recorded 251 kills, 182 digs, 43 aces and averaged 5.2 digs per match. She was a key contributor as Sierra Canyon (32-4) won its first CIF crown.
OH - Riah Walker, Riverview (Sarasota, Fla.), 5-10Walker made an immediate impact in the state's largest division when she led the Rams to the state semifinals and a 25-3 season. She averaged 2.7 kills, 4.4 digs and 3.8 serve receptions with only 7 errors.
OH - Ansley Tullis, Pope John Paul II (Slidell, La.), 5-10Tullis lead Pope John Paul II to the state title, a 46-2 record and a No. 18 national ranking. She was named MVP of the state tournament and averaged 3.0 kills, 3.1 digs and 3.3 serve receptions per set during the season. She also had 46 aces to go along with 75 blocks. She had 23 kills in state-title match.
OH - Taylor Landfair, Plainfield Central (Plainfield, Ill.), 6-4Landfair averaged 4.2 kills, 4.1 serve receptions and 2.2 digs as the Wildcats won 25 matches and reached the sectional finals.
OH - Birdie Hendrickson, Logan-Rogersville (Rogersville, Mo.), 6-1A first team All-State choice, Hendrickson averaged 4.4 kills per set and added 40 aces, 222 digs, and 278 returns as the Wildcats won 32-of-38 matches and played deep into the playoffs.
S - Logan Case, Ursuline Academy (Cincinnati), 5-8Case served 98 percent and dished out 954 assists for a per set average of 11.4 as the Lions went 22-5. On six occasions, she totaled more than 50 assists in a match. Case also averaged 2.9 digs and in her final 52 sets, she had just two service errors.
S - Sophia Bossong, Siegel (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), 5-10An All-District 7-AAA selection, Bossong finished with 1,208 assists, 47 aces, 55 kills, 55 blocks and 187 kills as the Stars won 43 matches. She is a finalist for the Daily News Player of the Year.
S - Taylor Jakubowski, Huntley (Ill.), 5-6Named team captain by her teammates, Jakubowski totaled 989 assists (10.7 per set average) and 326 digs (4.5 per set average) for Huntley. She was named to the Northwest All-Area team.
S - MJ Hammill, Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.), 6-0 Hammill quarterbacked the Trojans to 26 wins as she averaged 10.8 assists, 1.4 kills and 2.8 digs per set. She also blocked 64 shots. Hammill, who has committed to Wisconsin, was at her best in four state tournament matches, averaging 13 assists per set.
S - Alexis McMurtrey, Bonneville (Idaho Falls, Idaho), 5-5McMurtrey served for 51 aces and 258 points, but more importantly handed out 10.7 assists per set and recorded 4.2 digs per set as Bonneville won the 5A state title. McMurtrey was at her best in the Bees' final two state tournament games, averaging 12.5 assists.
S - Tayler Alden, Oconomowoc (Wis.), 5-11Alden guided the Raccoons to a 40-6 season and the postseason by recording 1,243 assists in 120 sets for a 10.4 per set average. She also averaged 1.6 digs and had 101 kills, 52 blocks and served 75 aces for 264 points. She was named an All-State honorable mention.
L - Nalani Iosia, Redondo Union (Redondo Beach, Calif.), 5-8Iosia was named the Best Defensive Player in the Bay League, Team MVP and first team Santa Monica Daily Breeze All-Area Volleyball.
A-A - Alexa Rousseau, Bloomfield Hills (Mich.), 6-2The Blackhawks finished with 37 wins as Rousseau averaged 7.8 assists, two digs and two kills per set. Her 62.2 kill percent and .495 hitting percentage were tops on the team. She also blocked 52 shots and served 51 aces.
A-A - Jessica Mruzik, Mercy (Farmington Hills, Mich.), 6-1Named third team class A All-State, Mruzik was an immediate impact player for Mercy as she recorded 487 assists and served 78 aces.
A-A - Sydney Dowler, Green Hope (Cary, N.C.), 5-10Named the state championship match MVP, Dowler led Green Hope to a 28-1 season. She averaged 1.3 kills, 1.7 digs and 92 assists. She also served 61 aces (team-high 218 service points). In six state tournament matches, she averaged 11 assist per set.
A-A - Celia Cullen, Brighton (Mich.), 6-0Primarily Brighton's setter, Cullen recorded 380 kills, 90 aces, 65 blocks, 232 digs and 635 assists, making her one of the state's most versatile players. She is committed to Michigan State University.
