247Sports released its initial Class of 2023 high school basketball player rankings Wednesday. There are some already familiar faces near the top of the list as New Jersey's
DaJuan Wagner Jr. and California native
Mikey Williams have been pegged as the cream of the crop in the sophomore class.
Wagner claimed the No. 1 spot. The
Camden (N.J.) guard earned first team MaxPreps Freshman All-America honors last season after averaging a team-high 18.5 points per contest for the No. 16 ranked team in the final MaxPreps Top 25.
Williams checked in at No. 2 after earning MaxPreps Freshman of the Year honors last season. He averaged 29.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game while leading
San Ysidro (San Diego, Calif.) to its first ever section title. He broke the San Diego Section single-game scoring record with a 77-point outburst.
Other notable names near the top of the rankings include first team MaxPreps Freshman All-American
Ryan Bewley, sharp-shooting
Combine Academy (Lincolnton, N.C.) guard
Robert Dillingham and talented Senegal native
Baye Fall, a 6-foot-11 center.
