Abingdon/Avon is a perfect 4-0 against ROWVA/Williamsfield since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tornadoes will welcome the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Abingdon/Avon's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so ROWVA/Williamsfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Abingdon/Avon is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Seymour just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 4-3.
Owen Timmons made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, ROWVA/Williamsfield had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Brody Lytle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Drake DeJaynes was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Austin Owens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
ROWVA/Williamsfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peoria Heights struck out ten times.
Abingdon/Avon's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, their victory bumped their record up to 20-11.
Abingdon/Avon got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2023 against ROWVA/Williamsfield by a conclusive 14-3 score. Will the Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
