Thompson was recently named Oklahoma's Gatorade Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, leading the Hornets to a berth in the OSSAA Class 6A state tournament with a final record of 20-5.
Although Washington was the favorite to repeat as state champion the OSSAA state tournament was canceled because of concerns around the coronavirus.
Due to the season being cut short, Thompson was unable to eclipse 2,000 career points as he finished just 55 points shy with 1,945 career points. Had state tournament play continued, Thompson could have played as many as three additional contests.
Thompson is regarded as the No. 20 prospect in the Class of 2020,
according to 247Sports. The future Kansas Jayhawk is expected to make an instant impact as a freshman.
