Cypress is 8-2 against Kennedy since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cypress Centurions will look to defend their home court against the Kennedy Fighting Irish at 6:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cypress has three straight victories, Kennedy has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Cypress earned a 50-39 win over Valencia.
It was another big night for Isabella Caceres, who scored 14 points along with eight steals and two blocks. Sara Shigekawa was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Kennedy ended up a good deal behind Crean Lutheran on Monday and lost 47-33. While losing is never fun, Kennedy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 627th, while Crean Lutheran is ranked 102nd).
Cypress is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for Kennedy, they dropped their record down to 8-15 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Cypress came out on top in a nail-biter against Kennedy when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 49-46. Does Cypress have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kennedy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
