Video: Top 10 Games of the WeekFolsom (Calif.) vs. Elk Grove (Calif.)
Saturday, 6 p.m. Pacific timeWhy it's big: Folsom takes its state-best 29-game winning streak into Saturday night's Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship game against unbeaten Elk Grove.
Even though record-setting quarterback Jake Browning has graduated and now plays at the University of Washington, Folsom (13-0) still has one of the most consistent offenses in California. The Bulldogs are averaging 44 points per game with first-year senior starter
Jake Jeffrey behind center.
This will be the third trip to the section championship for Elk Grove in the last four years, but the first time it's won 13 or more games. The Thundering Herd (13-0) wants to avenge playoff losses to Folsom that happened in 2011 and 2012.
Names to watch: Jeffrey's 3,387 passing yards and 45 touchdowns are well behind Browning's record pace from the last few years, but are good enough numbers to rank among the top 12 in California for yardage and top five for touchdowns.
Elk Grove's top performer is do-everything senior
Ryan Robards. His 3,280 all-purpose yards account for nearly 50 percent of his team's total. As a safety, Robards is one of the Thundering Herd's best defenders. He also handles the team's placekicking and punting duties.
